cutting perfect circles

If you make a project that plays sound you will need.a speaker. If you want to mount a speaker behind a wooden panel there should be a perfect circle for the speaker to play through.

Cutting misshapen ovals is easy, perfect circles are more difficult. The tool we need to mark our circle is a compass. Tracing the speaker on a piece of paper helps determine the compass radius.

To cut the circle we will use a Dremel rotary tool with a MultiPurpose Cutting Bit and a circle cutting guide attachment. We need two holes in the work piece, one for the center of the guide and another for the cutting bit at theĀ  perimeter of the circle.

With the compass set correctly we can draw our desired cut on the wood. Using a piece of blue tape under the compass needle helps locate the center of the hole when the compass is removed.

The Dremel should be set to its highest speed. Turning it in a slow, fluid movement in a clockwise direction will cut the perfect circle needed for the speaker.
